Contract type: Adjunt (variable hour)Location: James Maddison UniversityJOB OVERVIEWThe JMU International Study Center located in Harrisonburg, VA requires experienced and enthusiastic instructors for teaching courses during Summer 2023 and/or the upcoming academic year (2023-24). The JMU ISC is an educational program that offers courses to international students to improve their English skills, academic skills, and understanding of U.S. culture. We are looking for candidates who can work on a part-time basis and teach specific sections based on the enrolment requirements, which may not be certain. • In-person classroom teaching 3-12 hours per week, depending on the number of class sections taught.
• Full responsibility for class preparation, teaching, assessment, grading, and student support as needed.
• Minimum of one scheduled office hour per week
• Participation in faculty/staff meetings and teaching-related initiatives
• Regular submission of lesson plans and other class materials, as requested.ABOUT YOU
  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum of two years of English language or related teaching experience in a classroom setting
  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
  • Master's Degree in TESOL, Education, or closely related field OR a master's degree plus Graduate Certificate in TESOL. (preferred)
  • Experience working with multicultural and/or multinational populations.
