Summary:The Technical Architect is responsible for leading (but not managing) technical teams on assigned client projects. The TA makes decisions about the structure, framework, and overall technical design for client solutions.
The Technical Architect maintains primary responsibility for all source repositories, internal and/or external as assigned by management. The TA conducts code reviews, leads brainstorming sessions, solicits advice from teammates, encourages collaboration for teams that the TA leads or participates in, and answers the most difficult support or development questions posed by clients or junior (relative to the TA) employees/consultants. May solicit the help of external sources where needed.
The TA researches and keeps up to date with industry best practices to the solutions, code, security, algorithms, architecture, and environments that are assigned
The TA may assist with hiring and training programs and will be asked to provide team leadership and guidance, but the TA is not tasked with overall managerial duties such as hiring, transferring, or terminating employees.
Essential Job Functions:
Technical Design: The TA is responsible for overall technical design on assigned projects. The TA may delegate responsibility for all technical design activities as appropriate.
Technical Implementation: The TA will lead implementation efforts, at times writing copious amounts of code and at other times coordinating larger efforts across multiple developers.
Ensure solution completeness, adherence to standards: Technical Architects have final approval for certifying that a project is technically complete and passes all Unit Tests. Conduct code reviews, delegate code reviews to appropriate technical workers, and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality.
Oversee Software Delivery to clients: The TA oversees the software delivery process, wherein final solutions are provided to customers in source code or compiled forms. The TA oversees compliance with coding best practices and proper security, documentation, and instructions for receiving, installing, maintaining, and supporting the solutions provided by Caf2Code LLC.
Software delivery duties may include merging Caf2Code LLC solutions with solutions developed by Microsoft, ISV's, third-parties, or clients themselves. This delivery may include merging and promoting Caf2Code LLC code to UAT and Build/Release environments.
Technical assessments: The TA may be asked to perform technical assessments to attest to the quality of prospective hires, current workers, client workers, development teams, consulting teams, software solutions.
Product Development: The TA may be requested to participate in the development of intellectual property in a leading technical capacity. These projects will be non-billable to Caf2Code LLC clients and instead contribute to new products or services that the company can sell.
