Job Duties The attorney, based in Richmond, will serve as a
prosecutor in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). This
individual oversees the investigation, prosecution and negotiation
of criminal violations involving fraud and/or abuse in the Virginia
Medicaid Program committed by health care providers. This
individual will be assigned to prosecute criminal cases in federal
and state courts. The Attorney must coordinate periodic meetings
with the investigative staff to conduct a review of evidence as the
cases develop, with advice rendered on methods of gathering
significant evidence and the legal issues related to those matters.
This individual will also coordinate prosecution strategies with
state and federal prosecutors. This attorney is responsible for
organizing the open case file and maintaining the case files in
accordance with the MFCU grant. Employment is conditioned upon a
favorable completion of a background investigation. The selected
applicant must be able to secure and maintain an appointment as a
Special Assistant United States Attorney. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school and be
admitted to the Virginia State Bar. The successful candidate will
have a minimum of three years experience prosecuting cases in state
and/or federal court. The successful candidate will also have
excellent analytical, writing abilities, and oral communication
skills as evidenced by a writing sample and references. Excellent
