Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year of
experience in a similar role - Required certifications in ACLS,
BLS, and NIHSS - Ability to work weekends, every other Saturday,
with Sundays off Description: Nurses on this unit care for adult
patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical issues.
The patient population includes cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious
disease, and pulmonary cases. As a Registered Nurse, you will be
accountable for coordinating direct patient care and education. The
unit provides interdisciplinary support from various healthcare
professionals. Daily census averages around 29 patients with a
maximum of 32 beds available. Patient diagnoses include
hypo/hypertension, CHF, chest pain, stroke care, COPD, PE,
conduction blocks, and respiratory failure. Special procedures
performed on this unit include insulin drips, pre/post cardiac
catheterizations, pacemakers, and ablations. The nurse-to-patient
ratio is typically 1:5. Advanced skills required include care and
management of feeding tubes, ports, PCA, and tracheostomies. Wound
care, telemetry, and interpretation of dysrhythmias are also
essential skills. Continuous monitoring of patients is required,
along with managing cardiac and vasoactive drips. Patient care may
include post cardiac angiogram and renal failure management.
Familiarity with isolation precautions and non-invasive airway
management is necessary. All candidates must comply with the
established policies against the use of THC. Fit testing is
