JMU's Finance office is accepting applications for an Accounting Services Technology Manager. Qualified candidates will be responsible for the overall functional support of, and enhancements to, the university's financial applications. This position serves as the primary liaison between functional accounting staff of 60+ core users and technical IT staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage activities of two Accounting Technology staff members responsible for vendor data entry/table maintenance, 1099 reporting, Finance department webpage maintenance, and system security functions for a variety of systems (Finance ERP, banking, file shares, etc)

  • Document and maintain finance system business processes, customizations, and interfaces

  • Troubleshoot end-user hardware/software issues for six finance departments (-40 end-users); identify/implement appropriate resolutions

  • Manage hardware/software purchases for multiple Finance offices.

  • Manage all facets of the functional planning and implementation efforts for the PeopleSoft Finance system, including the following:

    • Develop/maintain system test scripts (primarily for A/P, G/L, & Banking modules)

    • Develop/deploy end user training documents

    • Participate in system development, testing, and various system projects

    • Ensure data integrity within the Finance system, resolving issues identified timely

    • Direct functional accounting staff to develop system requirements and manage resulting fit/gap analysis



      • Expertise in technology related applications, databases and report writing

      • Considerable knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems and operations

      • Knowledge/experience with cloud based software/systems utilized within a Finance environment (List of preferred systems below)

      • Basic Windows/desktop application experience, including with Microsoft Office products

      • Demonstrated ability to analyze automated business processes and recommend improvements

      • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple technical projects concurrently

      • Ability to work independently with excellent problem-solving skills

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills


        • Bachelor's degree (preferably in accounting information systems or information technology field)

        • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance

        • 1-3 years of supervisory experience

        • Preferred cloud system experience: Chrome River, Onbase, Banking Security Applications, Spirion, Cascade, BI Publisher, Sunflower

          The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

          The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
