Join our growing team! -Lakeside Book Company has created a brand new role to bring strategic HR partnership to our -Harrisonburg, VA facilities. -You will have responsibility for 3 facilities in Harrisonburg, 1300 -employees, plus a team of 5-6 HR professionals.
In 2022, our goals as an HR team are to improve our foundation - build high-performing HR teams, modernize and simply our systems and processes, and instill a continuous improvement mindset in all we do. -To help elevate the business, our HR teams partner with our business managers to build a high-performing culture and build organizational capability and capacity. -We have a lot of positive changes and investments happening and we need great HR team members to help us implement them smoothly.
As a Sr. Human Resources Manager, you would report to the site operations leader, with a strong dotted line reporting to the HR Director, -and act as an advisor and strategic partner on all things HR. -You will partner with our CHRO, business leaders, and HR team as we use our collective experiences and knowledge to modernize Lakeside Book Company's people processes.Currently, we have openings for the HR Manager and HR Generalist roles, allowing you the opportunity to choose your new team members.

Your key responsibilities and immediate contributions:

  • Work closely with the management team to align HR activities with the strategic and yearly operating plans
  • Create strategies -around organizational development, succession planning, performance management, compensation, employee relations, employee engagement, and talent recruitment
  • Lead and coach a team of 5-6 HR professionals
  • Modernize and improve our HR processes and roll out changes smoothly with proper change -management processes
  • Lead improvement efforts in the talent assessment, hiring, orientation, development, and retention of employees
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and high-impact talent development efforts. - -Lead talent reviews and succession planning activities
  • Provide thoughtful leadership and coaching support to management teams and people leaders
  • Foster strong communications focused on continually improving organizational culture
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters and all areas affecting employee morale, retention, and culture
  • Elevate the quality and accountability of goal setting, employee development, and performance discussions
  • Coach and advise on employee relations to ensure timely resolution and compliance with policies and labor laws
    Ideal candidates will have:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 15+ years HR business partner experience
    • 7+ years in manufacturing
    • Previous leadership responsibility for high-level transformation or organizational change initiatives
    • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
