The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Repair Senior Technician. This is a day shift position with rotating on-call responsibilities.




Duties and Responsibilities


  • Performs repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
  • Completes inspection on equipment and repairs problems in timely manner.
  • Documents refrigerant usage for EPA records.
  • Properly installs equipment to code.
  • Provides input for the replacement of HVAC and refrigeration systems, when needed.
  • Performs seasonal maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to provide reliable and efficient operation.
  • Follows JMU and manufacturer's procedures.
  • Assists associates when needed.
  • Assists with training of other technicians.
  • Responsible for managing jobs, ordering needed parts, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Effectively manages time.
  • Keeps shop, parts, materials and paperwork organized.
  • Cleans and services tools and tests equipment.





    Qualifications
    Required:

    • The successful candidate must have considerable demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and related equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to use various test instruments to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and to repair such systems and equipment.
    • This position requires effective organizational skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude.
    • Must have effective skills in communicating clear and concise instructions both verbally and in writing.
    • The HVAC Repair Senior Technician will assist other Technicians and also have the ability to work independently.
    • Must be available for on-call/overtime and adhere to safety practices.
    • Candidates must have Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
    • Candidate must be at least 19 years old and have a valid drivers license for a minimum of 24 months.

      The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

      The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
