The Department of Psychology at James Madison University offers the BS and BA degree in the science of psychology. Our curriculum offers numerous opportunities for employment in the private and public sector as well as a pathway to professional schools and graduate study in a wide range of programs (e.g., psychological sciences, clinical psychology, social work, counseling, medicine, law, optometry, pharmacy, nursing). The Department of Psychology is a growing department with a dynamic vision for learning at a nationally and internationally prominent institution which has recently transitioned to R2 status and is engaging in a comprehensive plan to address diversity, equity and inclusion.The College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) is working to identify and dismantle racist and discriminatory policies, practices, and processes while advancing inclusive excellence and promoting a CHBS culture in which every member can flourish. Join us in achieving our goal of continuing to grow as a diverse college and department that embodies an atmosphere of belonging.We invite applications for a non-renewable term assistant professor in a 10-month appointment beginning Fall 2022 (Aug 2022 to May 2023).Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis is a one-year teaching position. Teaching of Abnormal Psychology is expected along with upper level course(s) in their specialty. The area of specialty is open, with preference for expertise in areas such as trauma, risk and resilience, and diversity. Successful candidates will be welcome to participate in scholarly activities and service, although these are not expectations of the position.QualificationsCandidates must have a PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program. Teaching experience is preferred.Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates must also demonstrate an appreciation for the preparation of undergraduate students for employment, graduate education (counseling, clinical psychology, neuroscience, and other research psychology disciplines) or professional programs (e.g., optometry, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy).We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment towards building equitable and inclusive environments.To learn more and apply, go to joblink.jmu.edu and reference posting F1860, or go directly to https://joblink.jmu.edu/postings/11803 .
