Position Summary Information




General Information
Conference Services at James Madison University is accepting applications for multiple Temporary Summer Administrative Coordinators. Administrative Coordinators work closely with Conference Coordinators to manage specific administrative duties related to conferences.

This position will work primarily day shifts Sunday - Saturday from May 15th until August 6th, 4 to 5 days per 7-day week. No on-call shifts (no overnight stay), but some evening shifts possible.


  • May 15th - May 19th, the shift will be 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Starting May 25th, the shift will be 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 6:00p.m.





    Duties and Responsibilities
    Administrative Coordinators are assigned one of the following administrative areas serving conference operations:

    • Dining/Card Services/Billing
    • Signage/Conference Operations/Parking/Transportation
    • Dorm Management (Keys/Inspections/Diagrams)/Housekeeping/Linen
    • Scheduling/UREC/Info/Public Safety
    • Office Management/Equipment & Resource Oversight


      These positions are based primarily in the Conference Services office, however staff will work on site throughout JMU as needed.

      Required:

      • Exhibit multi-tasking and time-management skills
      • Possess strong customer service skills
      • Function well in a fast-paced office environment
      • Take initiative and work well with others in a team setting
      • Available to work May 15th - August 6th





        Condition(s) of Employment
        This is a part-time wage position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.

        Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

        The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

        The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
